The data center lies close to the center. It was designed according to the most modern guidelines and started to operate in the middle of 2000. Our Service Level Agreements guarantee an availability of 100%, because our system critical components were designed completely redundantly (n+1).

Power Supply

Electricity is supplied via two separated transformers and house leads from the public power supply system. A UPS installment as well as two diesel generators with 1,3 MWatt capacity guarantee for secure and constant power supply. The UPS installment (uninterruptible power supply) has been designed to operate the whole data center by fully load.
The temperature of the generators is maintained on operation temperature. The generators need about 30 seconds to be turned on and synchronized. Their fuel is enough to operate for 48 hours constantly.

Air-Conditioning

The cooling system provides a constant room temperature of 22 ± 2 °C and a humidity of 40 ± 10%. Two cooling machines, which are buffered by an ice accumulator, supply eight coolers within the data center over the installation floor. The coolers create overpressure in the intermediate bottom, which makes it possible to systematically cool each client’s rack individually through a vent. All components are designed redundantly n+1.

Fire Protection

Because of continuous inspection of the room air that is drawn off fire can be detected early enough. The system sets off a pre-alarm, before a fire can even develop. In that case, the air-conditioning is turned off in order to avoid further oxygen supply. The subsequent main alarm allows for the data center to be flooded with FM200 extinguishing gas. This gas deprives the fire of its burning energy; it is harmless for humans as well as for any of the equipment.

Security

All rooms and corridors of the data center are under video surveillance and equipped with motion detectors. Every client draws up an ‘access list’, naming those people that are authorized to get access to the equipment. Accessing the core of the data center is without exception only possible when companied by our ‘escort service’, which is part of the Network Operation Center. All visitors and the duration of the stays are being recorded.
